Minutes February 22, 2011 Meeting

The Salem Township Board of Trustees met February 22, 2011 in regular session at the Salem Morrow Fire Station Conference Room for the purpose of transacting the business of the Township. President Kirk Ramsey called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with members Dick Dare and Ralph Blanton present. Mr. Ramsey led all those present in the pledge of allegiance.

Others present were: Mike Kassalen, Fred LaFollette, Bill Harrison, Bob Glancy, Don Lynch, and Frank Schlake.

The minutes were approved as read and were posted in the building.

Cemetery Update
There was no update to the cemetery records for this time period.

New Business:

Mr. Don Lynch questioned the use of the Fire Station after observing cars in the parking lot one evening. Bill Harrison, Asst. Fire Chief, explained that there was training going on for fire fighters. If a township resident wants to hold a meeting at the fire house, they need to fill out an application. If the proposed use meets the criteria for use of the conference room, the group may use it.

The Little Miami Food Pantry would like to expand their vegetable garden this year. They produced and distributed 500 lbs. of produce last year. Motion to approve the expansion was made by Mr. Dick Dare, seconded by both Mr. Kirk Ramsey and Mr. Ralph Blanton.

Zoning
Mike Kassalen, Zoning Inspector, turned in a permit and fee for a pole barn.

Roads/Fire Department

Bill Harrison, Asst. Fire Chief, proposed to purchase a new computer and software for zoning and cemetery records. The purchase was approved by all three trustees.

Mr. Harrison also reported that EMS runs were down last year. Neighboring township EMS runs were also down.

There was no significant flooding from the recent rains. However, a culvert is backing up on Lake Rd. The road department is looking into this.

The County and State are inspecting roads for scheduling maintenance.
Bill Harrison, Asst. Fire Chief, passed out a schedule for road maintenance which included about 24 mile of work at an estimated cost of $150,000.
A motion to accept the bid from Warren County to pave roads was made by Mr. Ralph Blanton, and seconded by Mr. Dick Dare. 

 Fiscal Business
Approval to Pay Bills
The fiscal officer prepared checks #10286 - #10329, 91016-91019which totaled $42,611.91.
The board examined the bills that were ready for payment and Dick Dare made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Ralph Blanton seconded the motion.
Vote:   Dare, yea     Blanton, yea      Ramsey, yea

For this reporting period the fiscal officer deposited receipts in the amount of $32,623.60.
This amount included receipts #6987– #6998.

 With no further business to come before the board, Dick Dare made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 P.M. Ralph Blanton seconded the motion.
