Minutes April 23, 2013 Meeting

The Salem Township Board of Trustees met April 23, 2013 in regular session at the Salem Morrow Fire Station Conference Room for the purpose of transacting the business of the Township. President Kirk Ramsey called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with members Heath Kilburn and Dick Dare present. Mr. Ramsey led all those present in the pledge of allegiance.

Others present: Chief Fred LaFollette, Mike Kassalen, Ron Stratton, Don Lynch, Lori Hensley, Ralph Blanton, David Opperman & friend, Woodie Davis, and John Leesemann.

The minutes were read and approved and posted on the bulletin board.

Cemetery

Donald Lynch asked if Dick Dare would be running for Trustee again. He asked the board to reconsider what they approved at the last meeting concerning the bike trail.

Fire Department/Roads/Cemetery

Chief LaFollette mentioned drainage problems in 3 locations.

Heath Kilburn asked about the fence at the cemetery.
He reported that the building was framed and ready for electric and plumbing to be installed.

Mike Kassalen, zoning inspector, turned in a sign permit that did not require a fee.

The new zoning code books are in and available to anyone interested in purchasing one.

Mr. Kassalen had an answer for Mr. Lynch from last meeting. The zoning matter in question dated back to 1982 before the township zoning went into effect. Mr. Lynch disputed this and said it was done in 1998.

Mr. Kilburn brought up the property at 5239 Salem Road and requested that Mr. Kassalen look into it and have it cleaned up.

FISCAL MATTERS

The fiscal officer prepared checks #13267- #13343, 91426-91436 which totaled $73,411.63.
The board examined the bills that were ready for payment and Dick Dare made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Kirk Ramsey seconded the motion.
Vote: Mr. Dare, yea      Mr. Ramsey, yea      Mr. Kilburn, yea

For this reporting period the fiscal officer deposited receipts in the amount of $544,385.52.
This amount included receipts #7790– #7819.

With no further business to come before the board, Heath Kilburn made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:25 P.M. Dick Dare seconded the motion.
