Minutes September 24, 2013 Meeting

The Salem Township Board of Trustees met September 24, 2013 in regular session at Salem Morrow Fire Station Conference Room for the purpose of transacting the business of the Township. President Kirk Ramsey called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with members Heath Kilburn and Dick Dare present. Mr. Ramsey asked Ron Stratton to lead all those present in the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

Others present: Don Lynch, Chief Fred LaFollette, Mike Kassalen, Frank Schlake, Lori Hensley, Woodie Davis, Ralph Blanton, Bob Glancy, and Ron Stratton

The minutes were read and approved and posted on the bulletin board.

Mr. Ramsey thanked everyone for supporting him during his illness. He was looking forward to continuing his work with the township.

From the Floor:
Donald Lynch stated there had been 3 meetings cancelled and he further stated it was the duty of the trustees to have the meetings. He brought up the sale of the zoning books again.

Chief LaFollette reported that the crew was catching up on a few things. He brought up the problem of how to get rid of the old concrete left at the site of the old building. Kirk Ramsey and Heath Kilburn agreed they thought it should wait until next spring so they could figure out what to do with it.
The old building has been torn down and hauled away.

There was a headstone damaged. It has been replaced and the bill for the replacement headstone will be turned in to the insurance company.

Lori Hensley read a letter from Ginger Blair, a resident on Ward Road, requesting a street light at her end of the Road. She was unable to be attend and asked Ms. Hensley to present her request.

ZONING
Mike Kassalen, zoning inspector, turned in 2 permits; one for an addition and one for an accessory building.
He said the clean- up was in process where he had contacted the owners.
Mr. Ramsey asked about the apartment building. Lori Hensley said she was part of a beautification project last Saturday and they are trying to contact the owner and do some painting.

Heath Kilburn mentioned the October 8th meeting at the Warren County Commissioners morning session.

Rates Resolution
The Fiscal Officer brought before the board for approval the Rates Resolution for Fiscal Year 2014 to accept the rates that had been determined by the budget commission at their annual meeting. Dick Dare made a motion to pass Resolution 13-0924 accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the Budget Commission of Warren County and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the county auditor.

Mr. Kilburn seconded the motion.

FISCAL MATTERS

The fiscal officer prepared checks #13844- #13892, 91518-91530 which totaled $55,149.16.
The board examined the bills that were ready for payment and Dick Dare made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Heath Kilburn seconded the motion.

For this reporting period the fiscal officer deposited receipts in the amount of $585,731.12.
This amount included receipts #7955– #7975.

With no further business to come before the board, Heath Kilburn made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 P.M. Kirk Ramsey seconded the motion.
