The Salem Township Board of Trustees met April 11, 2006 in regular session at the Township Hall for the purpose of transacting the business of the Township. Vice-Chairman Dick Dare called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with member Rob Glancy present. Dick Kilburn was on vacation.

Others present were Fred LaFollette, Richard Bierley, Lee Short, Bob Daumeyer, Bill Harrison, Linda Oda and Ralph Blanton

The minutes were read and approved and posted in the township hall.

Candidate Visit
Linda Oda, who is running to be the Republican Party’s candidate for county auditor, was present to give the public information about herself. She asked if anyone in the audience had and questions for her. The matter of taxes was brought up and she spoke briefly on the matter.

Zoning
Bob Daumeyer was present to update the board on the happenings at the Miracle property. He reported that over the weekend the neighbors met and asked him what the latest was on the case. He wanted to know if there was anything happening on it. Richard told him the case was on hold since the Miracles have brought a case against the township. Mr. Daumeyer stated that they have been bringing in stone and concrete and are building a shelf-like area. He is taking pictures of what is going on there. Richard stated he has driven by and seen they are getting the equipment out of storage and running it.

Richard reported that he and Lee spoke about Nextel’s request to add antennas to the Sprint tower. They will be on the same platform as the Sprint equipment. Lee felt it would be in compliance with the zoning code.
David Hockey from American Tower called him and asked about the $1750 refund check. Debbie stated the check has not been cashed yet, but everyone is in agreement that someone in the company has that check. It is a problem to decide what to do since that division of the company has moved and the check could show up and be cashed at a later date. For now, no new check will be issued.

Richard has been dealing with Roy Prince concerning his request to the board of appeals.

Fire Department
Fred reported the fish fry was a success and everything went ok. Dick Dare told them they did a good job and the food was really good.

Bill asked the board to approve the hiring of two volunteers. Neither is certified, so they will have to go to school to get the certification. The names of the applicants are Byron Noble and Jonathan Zwering. Dick Dare made a motion to approve their hiring. Rob Glancy seconded the motion.

Road/Cemetery Report
Fred told the board that they will start on Woodward Claypool Road this Thursday. They have passed out the fliers to the residents to let them know what is happening.
When they have time the crew will go around and clean some of the culverts out since the leaves have backed up after the heavy rains.

April 20th is the Warren County Engineer’s annual dinner at Waynesville. Debbie will call in reservations.

Fred reported he had called the engineer’s office about paperwork on Briarwood and they can’t find anything.

There are still problems in Morrow Meadows with drainage, too.

The clerk presented checks # 3480 through #3544 which totaled $33,840.05
The board examined the bills that were presented for payment and Rob Glancy made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Dick Dare seconded the motion.

This amount included receipts #5248 through #5260.

With no further business to come before the board, Rob Glancy made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:40 P.M. Dick Dare seconded the motion.
