Minutes October 22, 2013 Meeting

The Salem Township Board of Trustees met October 22, 2013 in regular session at the Salem Morrow Fire Station Conference Room for the purpose of transacting the business of the Township. President Kirk Ramsey called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. with member Heath Kilburn present. Mr. Ramsey led all those present in the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

Others present: Don Lynch, Chief Fred LaFollette, Lori Hensley, Woodie Davis, Ralph Blanton, Ron Stratton, Tom Opperman, Bob Glancy, Pat Tipton and Jan Zumbro.

The minutes were read and approved and posted on the bulletin board.

From the Floor:

Pat Tipton who owns a rental house on Virginia Street was present to talk about a water problem. She said there is always a lot of water running down the hill from the cemetery when it rains. Chief LaFollette said he had looked at the problem. There was a drain pip clogged. He will go check on it again. Kirk Ramsey stated that water run-off is a very hard problem to control.

Quotes on the concrete for the new building were received in the amounts of $3,500 and $4,550.00. Kirk Ramsey made a motion to accept the quote of $3,500. Heath Kilburn seconded the motion.

Chief LaFollette reported that he asked Jon Peters if he would be willing to come back next year as the summer help in the cemetery and Mr. Peters said he would like to work again next year.
There was a tree on Ghiels Carroll Road at the bottom of the hill. The county has been called on this problem.

Tom Opperman was present with a zoning problem, but will need to get in touch with Mike Kassalen, the zoning inspector.

Donald Lynch had questions about the posting of the time change for this meeting. He also brought up the price of the zoning books again.
Kirk Ramsey made a motion to reimburse any overcharges for the zoning books. Heath Kilburn seconded the motion.

FISCAL MATTERS

The fiscal officer prepared checks #13939- #14030, 91537-91559 which totaled $89,150.96.
The board examined the bills that were ready for payment and Heath Kilburn made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Kirk Ramsey seconded the motion.
Vote: Mr. Kilburn, yea Mr. Ramsey, yea

For this reporting period the fiscal officer deposited receipts in the amount of $115,622.07.
This amount included receipts #7986– #8032.

With no further business to come before the board, Heath Kilburn made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:15 P.M. Kirk Ramsey seconded the motion.
