Minutes February 28, 2017 Meeting

The Salem Township Board of Trustees met February 28, 2017 in regular session at the Salem Morrow Fire Station Conference Room for the purpose of transacting the business of the Township. President Ralph Blanton called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with members Heath Kilburn and Susan Ramsey present. Mr. Blanton led all those present in the pledge to the flag.

Others present: Chief Harrison, Don Lynch, Bob Glancy

The trustees read the minutes and Heath Kilburn made a motion to approve the minutes from the February 14, 2017 meeting. Susan Ramsy seconded the motion.

Cemetery Updates

Fire Department
The first item Chief Harrison brought up was to discuss the cameras he has been looking at for the fire department and at the cemetery. He said he would have quotes by the next meeting. One quote for the cemetery camera was $2,000, but he is getting more quotes.

Chief Harrison then asked the board to approve adding two new employees to the active roster; volunteer Zach Compton and part timer Michael Milner. Heath Kilburn made a motion to approve hiring these two employees. Susan Ramsey seconded the motion.

He then reported that Kyle Hannigan, who had been hired at the last meeting, had been hired by another department and would not be working for us. He asked to remove him from the roster. Heath Kilburn made a motion to remove Kyle Hannigan from the active member list. Susan Ramsey seconded the motion.

He wanted to report how residents have stopped him to thank him and tell him how wonderful the medics and firemen have been on runs. He also praised them for their professionalism.
He reported there was a structure fire and they were able to save the building.
He then explained how the area fire chiefs are helping each other on calls so that there would always be a person in command on every call.

Zoning Department
Jesse McKeehan, zoning inspector, reported he is getting calls on properties that people are interested in. Don Lynch asked him about the junk cars and what qualifies as a junk vehicle.

Trustee Kilburn presented a letter he had written to send to the Warren County Engineer’s office to thank them for their contribution to the new culvert on Moore Saur Road.

It was mentioned that a determination would need to be made of which branches should be trimmed or removed on Woodward Claypool Road

Fiscal Business

The Fiscal Officer had prepared checks #18003-18045, 92417-92430 which totaled $45,821.77.
The board examined the bills that were ready for payment and Susan Ramsey made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Heath Kilburn seconded the motion.

For this reporting period the fiscal officer deposited receipts in the amount of $26,143.46 which included receipts #9341 - #9359.

With no further business to come before the board Heath Kilburn made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 PM. Susan Ramsey seconded the motion.
