Minutes March 14, 2017 Meeting

The Salem Township Board of Trustees met March 14, 2017 in regular session at the Salem Morrow Fire Station Conference Room for the purpose of transacting the business of the Township. President Ralph Blanton called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with member Heath Kilburn present. Mr. Blanton led all those present in the pledge to the flag.

Others present: Don Lynch, Linda Oda and husband, Jesse McKeehan

The trustees read the minutes and Heath Kilburn made a motion to approve the minutes from the February 28, 2017 meeting. Ralph Blanton seconded the motion.

Cemetery Updates

Linda Oda, Warren County Recorder, was present to give the annual report as required by ORC. She stated that this department deals strictly with land records. They expect home prices to go up 10%-15% by 2018. The office also keeps a list of all deceased veterans and issues Honor Reward Veteran ID cards.

Zoning Department
Jesse McKeehan, zoning inspector, turned in two permits for this time period.
He has had a lot of calls with zoning questions. As an update to the Lake Road problem, he reported that the untagged cars had been moved. Other zoning issues are still with the prosecutor’s office.

Don Lynch brought up junk cars again and other matters previously discussed.

Chief Harrison was not present as he was at the hospital for the birth of his granddaughter. He had asked that the board approve the hiring of a new volunteer, Toni Gardener. Heath Kilburn made a motion to approve adding Ms. Gardener to the volunteer roster. Motion seconded by Ralph Blanton.

Trustee Blanton reported he had received an application from Michael Overbay to come back to work in the cemetery this summer. He has put out some flyers to advertise for workers.

It was noted that Kirk Ramsey’s obituary was in the latest issue of the Ohio Township magazine.

Fiscal Business

The Fiscal Officer had prepared checks #18046-18086, 92431-92435 which totaled $40,119.57.
The board examined the bills that were ready for payment and Heath Kilburn made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Ralph Blanton seconded the motion.

For this reporting period the fiscal officer deposited receipts in the amount of $14,518.13 which included receipts #9360 - #9370.

With no further business to come before the board Heath Kilburn made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:35 PM. Ralph Blanton seconded the motion.
