Minutes April 11, 2017 Meeting

The Salem Township Board of Trustees met April 11, 2017 in regular session at the Salem Morrow Fire Station Conference Room for the purpose of transacting the business of the Township. President Ralph Blanton called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with members Heath Kilburn and Susan Ramsey present. Mr. Blanton led all those present in the pledge to the flag.

Others present: Bob Glancy, Chief Harrison, Jamison Benoit & wife, Richard Oeder, John Moenster, Chris Glancy, Matthew Helton, Andrew Mack, Woodie Davis and Don Lynch

The trustees read the minutes and Heath Kilburn made a motion to approve the minutes from the March 28, 2017 meeting. Susan Ramsey seconded the motion.

Cemetery Updates
There were no cemetery updates for this time period.

Fire Department
Chief Harrison reported the fish fry was a success and everyone had a good time, some came early and stayed to the end.
He gave an update on the security camera for the cemetery. It is mounted and almost operational.
As for the security cameras for the fire house, he is waiting on two bids.
There were 229 runs for the quarter.
At the last meeting, Chief Harrison had requested the board approve the appointment of Jamieson Benoit to fill the open full time position. He has accepted the position. Heath Kilburn made a motion to approve the appointment of Jamieson Benoit as full time Lieutenant to be effective April 21, 2017. Susan Ramsey seconded the motion.

It was noted that Chris Glancy was presented an award from Hamilton Township as Fire Fighter of the year.

Woodie Davis brought up a problem with Ward Road falling apart with lots of pot holes. He was told nothing can be done until the asphalt plants open again which should be soon.
At the end of the road there is a problem from where the Village had opened the road for the water line. It is their problem to repair. Heath Kilburn will find out what their intentions are for taking care of this problem.

Susan Ramsey asked why there was a part of Washington Way that wasn’t chipped sealed last year. It was stated that part of the road is not under the township’s care.

Zoning Department
As the zoning inspector was not present for this meeting, there were no new zoning issues brought up.

Don Lynch asked about the bulletin board again. Ralph Blanton agreed we need something larger than what is outside the building.
Lynch also brought up old issues regarding the Gooch property and the 10-year policy relating to zoning issues.

Fiscal Business

The Fiscal Officer had prepared checks #18131-18174, 92449-92454 which totaled $40,754.94.
The board examined the bills that were ready for payment and Heath Kilburn made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Susan Ramsey seconded the motion.

For this reporting period the fiscal officer deposited receipts in the amount of $5,749.06 which included receipts #9396 - #9406.

With no further business to come before the board Heath Kilburn made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:25 PM. Susan Ramsey seconded the motion.
