Minutes June 27, 2017 Meeting

The Salem Township Board of Trustees met June 27, 2017 in regular session at the Salem Morrow Fire Station Conference Room for the purpose of transacting the business of the Township. President Ralph Blanton called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with members Susan Ramsey and Heath Kilburn present. Mr. Blanton led all those present in the pledge to the flag.

Others present: Chief Harrison, Don Lynch, Jim Bishop, Rob States and Fire Fighter Scott Milner

The trustees read the minutes and Heath Kilburn made a motion to approve the minutes from the June 13, 2017 meeting. Susan Ramsey seconded the motion.

Rob States, a resident on Gray Fox Tr in the Lakeside Park development was present to ask about the paving that is being done on Red Fox Tr. He said it is all messed up and half finished. His house is located partially in Salem Township and partially in Hamilton Township. The road that is being worked on is in Hamilton Township. Mr. Blanton told him that the township crew will check on this matter.

Zoning - no zoning report for this period.

Fire Department
Chief Harrison reported that the camera security system was almost complete.
Other matters brought up:
Cat tails in the pond – they are using chemicals in the pond to get rid of them

Since January, they have had many days with multiple runs

The posts for the sign/bulletin board have been ordered. It will take a few weeks to get them

They will be doing some training in the use of the new rescue boat

Tanker 71 is back in service.

There is an updated cost on the sign. It is now $1,085.64. Susan Ramsey made a motion to approve the updated price; seconded by Heath Kilburn.

Chief then presented names he requested to be added to the roster. New personnel to add are Larry Reynolds, Lillian Hoffman and Donald Books. Heath Kilburn made a motion to approve the addition of these people to the active roster of the fire department. Ralph Blanton seconded the motion.

He then requested that Derrick Treat be removed from the roster as he had received another job offer.
Susan Ramsey made a motion to approve the removal from the active roster of Derrick Treat; seconded by Heath Kilburn.

Regarding the employment of Justin Principato as full time administrative assistant, Chief Harrison reported he had passed all the required tests so he can start in that position June 30, 2017. Susan Ramsey made a motion to make June 30 his official start date as the administrative assistant for the fire department. Heath Kilburn seconded the motion.

Don Lynch asked that the zoning inspector be present at the meetings so he can talk to him. He asked about zoning permits and grass cuttings. He also asked that he be notified when there is a grass cutting job so he can bid on it.

Fiscal Business

The Fiscal Officer had prepared checks #18377-18428, 92500-92515 which totaled $63,691.00.
The board examined the bills that were ready for payment and Susan Ramsey made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Heath Kilburn seconded the motion.

For this reporting period the fiscal officer deposited receipts in the amount of $47,522.54 which included receipts #9480 - #9518.

With no further business to come before the board Heath Kilburn made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 PM. Susan Ramsey seconded the motion.
