Minutes August 8, 2017 Meeting

The Salem Township Board of Trustees met August 8, 2017 in regular session at the Salem Morrow Fire Station Conference Room for the purpose of transacting the business of the Township. President Ralph Blanton called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with members Heath Kilburn and Susan Ramsey present. Mr. Blanton led all those present in the pledge to the flag.

The trustees read the minutes and Susan Ramsey made a motion to approve the minutes from the July 25, 2017 meeting. Heath Kilburn seconded the motion.

Zoning - no zoning report for this period.

Jerry Martin, resident on Moore Saur Road told the board that an area at Gilmore Rd and Moore Saur needs to be mowed.

Don Lynch stated the bulletin board still was not up. He was told it had finally been shipped and had been received.

Susan Ramsey received a call from residents at 6344 US 22-3 regarding a zoning matter. Mr. Blanton will let Jesse McKeehan know.

Heath Kilburn stated that the road crew needs to spray one more time around stop signs and guard rails.

Ralph Blanton brought up the fact that the crew needs some new tools, such as drills, circular saw and other small tools. Heath suggested they get a 20 volt kit, too. After a brief discussion Heath Kilburn made a motion to approve spending up to $1000 to replace old tools and purchase the 20 volt kit.
Susan Ramsey seconded the motion.

Ralph Blanton reported he had a quote of $1500.00 for the work necessary to get the Food Pantry building back together; such as the tile, dry wall and replace the flooring. The quote was from Kevin Cozzens.
Susan Ramsey made a motion to approve moving forward with this work. Heath Kilburn seconded the motion.

Fiscal Business

The Fiscal Officer reported it was time for the annual street lighting resolution to be approved so that assessments could be made for street lights. Heath Kilburn made a motion to pass Resolution 17-0808 to approve the assessment for artificial street lighting districts of the township; to levy the special assessments for one year; to be on the 2017 tax duplicate collected in the calendar year 2018. Mrs. Ramsey seconded the motion.

The Fiscal Officer had prepared checks #18533-18599, 92542-92553 which totaled $86,626.87.
The board examined the bills that were ready for payment and Heath Kilburn made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Susan Ramsey seconded the motion.

For this reporting period the fiscal officer deposited receipts in the amount of $8732.99 which included receipts #9552 - #9557.

With no further business to come before the board Heath Kilburn made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:15 PM. Susan Ramsey seconded the motion.
