Minutes October 10, 2017 Meeting

The Salem Township Board of Trustees met October 10, 2017 in regular session at the Salem Morrow Fire Station Conference Room for the purpose of transacting the business of the Township. President Ralph Blanton called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with members Heath Kilburn and Susan Ramsey present. Blanton led all those present in the pledge to the flag.

Others present: Chief Harrison, Don Lynch, Kirk Ramsey, Jr., Paul Kilburn, Mike Breeze, Jerry Lindsay, and Mary Elmer.

The trustees read the minutes and Susan Ramsey made a motion to approve the minutes from the September 26, 2017 meeting. Heath Kilburn seconded the motion.

Fire Department
Chief Harrison reminded everyone that they would participate in the Trunk or Treat being held at Morrow Plaza October 29 from 2-4 PM.
They participated in a “burn building” at the county for training. He hopes this will drop them to a 150 rating for home owners insurance purposes.
They hosted a Leadership 3 training recently.
He mentioned squad repairs, detailed how runs are handled due to a mix up on Mill St., and updated the muskrat problem.

Trustees and From the Floor

Ralph Blanton reported on the recent meeting held to discuss the ballot issue for electric aggregation. He said approximately 15-20 persons attended and it lasted about an hour.

Don Lynch brought up the outdoor bulletin board which was lowered about 8 inches. He also mentioned posting notices, absence of the zoning inspector. Mr. Blanton addressed his issues.

Mr. Blanton reported a tree had come down, which he thinks was on township property. It fell across a fence onto a truck. He will call the insurance company, but needs to check it out to be sure it was actually on township property.

The Fiscal Officer had prepared checks #18757-18809, 92588-92593 which totaled $50,931.76.
The board examined the bills that were ready for payment and Susan Ramsey made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Heath Kilburn seconded the motion.

For this reporting period the fiscal officer deposited receipts in the amount of $12,420.52 which included receipts #9630 - #9636.

With no further business to come before the board Heath Kilburn made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 PM. Susan Ramsey seconded the motion.
