The Salem Township Board of Trustees met June 12, 2007 in regular session at the Township Hall for the purpose of transacting the business of the Township. Chairman Dick Dare called the meeting to order at 7:55 P.M. with member Dick Kilburn present. Rob Glancy was at the hospital. The meeting convened late due to the fact that Dick Dare was on a wrecker call.

Others present were Bill Harrison, Donald Lynch, Ralph Blanton, Lee Short, Adam Balls, Bill Harrison and Mike Kassalen

The minutes were read and approved and posted in the township hall.

Cemetery Update

Insurance Presentation
Adam Balls from the Hylant Group, the Ohio Plan, was present to talk to the trustees about liability insurance and gave detailed information about their plan. He estimated their plan would cost over $10,000 less a year for the same coverage. The trustees asked him to return next meeting when Rob would be present.

Township Maintenance
Bill Harrison told the board that the paving project is due to start mid to late July. That was the word from the county engineer’s office.

They heard from the surveyor and he will survey the St. Malachy Cemetery either Thursday or Friday of this week.

Fire Department
Bill requested the board to approve hiring two volunteers. Chris Glancy and Andrew Farlaino are two young beginner firefighters. Dick Kilburn made a motion to hire Chris Glancy and Andrew Farlaino as volunteers for the Salem-Morrow Fire Department pending results of physical exams and drug testing. Dick Dare seconded the motion.

ZONING
Donald Lynch asked the board about the status of his request for paperwork from the township. He was told because of the law suit, everything has to go through the prosecutor’s office.
Mr. Lynch then asked Dick Dare if he had sold his property. Mr. Dare responded that it wasn’t township business.

At 8:11 Dick Dare made a motion to adjourn to executive session for the purpose of personnel issues. Dick Kilburn seconded the motion.

The regular session reconvened at 8:30 and no action was taken.

Fiscal Business
Debbie recommended to the board that the contract with the Frank Gates Service Company for the Bureau of Workers Compensation group rating pool, be renewed for the July 1,2007 through June 30, 2008 year. Dick Kilburn made a motion to renew this contract. Dick Dare seconded the motion.

Approval to pay bills
The fiscal officer presented checks # 5156 through #5202 which totaled $30,905.26.
The board examined the bills that were presented for payment and Dick Dare made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Dick Kilburn
seconded the motion.

Receipts
For this reporting period the fiscal officer deposited receipts in the amount of $78,131.72
This amount included receipts #5727 through #5739.

With no further business to come before the board, Dick Kilburn made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:30 P.M. Dick Dare seconded the motion.
