June 24, 2008

The Salem Township Board of Trustees met June 24, 2008 in regular session at the Township Hall for the purpose of transacting the business of the Township. Chairman Dick Kilburn called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with members Kirk Ramsey and Dick Dare present.

Others present were Fred Lafollette, Bill Harrison, Mike Kassalen, Ralph Blanton, Donald Lynch, Mr. & Mrs. David Opperman, Bob Glancy, Lee Short and Rachel Hutzel.

The minutes were read and posted in the township hall.

ZONING
Donald Lynch
Mr. Lynch presented papers to Dick Dare and Dick Kilburn concerning the new court dates for the continuation of the hearing. The dates are July 22 and 23rd. He has papers that he filed that requests their presence and he is asking them to bring personal information to the court such as tax returns and rental receipts and insurance statements.

Mike Kassalen turned in two zoning permits. He also has created a form for zoning complaints and
showed it to the trustees. They approved of the form and thought it was a good idea.

Lee Short had a letter from Bruce McGary notifying the township about the continuance of the Lynch case.

Annual Presentation by County Prosecutor
Rachel Hutzel was present to talk about her annual report. She told about the opening of the child advocacy center that was opened in February. She stated that they have served 150 children since opening. She then discussed the major cases for the year. Lastly she handed out copies of the newsletter her office puts out about every other month. Then she fielded questions from the floor.
The Trustees thanked her for attending one of the township meetings.

Fire Department
Fred reported that MSA is working on a floor plan now that the contract has been signed.

Roads/Crew
Kirk Ramsey brought up the matter of the site where gravel was put over the culvert pipe. It appears there is now a leak there. He suggested the crew check it out before the blacktopping is done.

Dick Kilburn asked about the pipe on Anderson Road. Fred said they had replaced a pipe there.

Fiscal Matters

Approval to pay bills
The fiscal officer presented checks # 6556 through #6613 which totaled $38,675.58
The board examined the bills that were presented for payment and Dick Kilburn made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Dick Dare seconded the motion.

Receipts
For this reporting period the fiscal officer deposited receipts in the amount of $13,881.47.
This amount included receipts #6112 through #6122.

With no further business to come before the board, Dick Dare made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:30P.M. Dick Kilburn seconded the motion.
